Coaching & Consulting

Coaching is a key component of our vision of schools where students of color thrive. For this to happen, we must build the collective capacity of our teams. Coaches support individual educators as they develop their abilities to be reflective about their practice. The support that a coach provides a shared leader or a teacher can be crucial to their growth and longevity as an educator. We start each coaching relationship with a self-reflection and goal-setting session. This initial session situates you and your coach within your unique context,  provides an opportunity to share your personal journey in education, and grounds your coach within your vision. From there, each coach continues to support clients by building and maintaining strong trusting relationships.

Equity at the Center 

Our coaches come from various backgrounds and bring with them diverse perspectives and experiences. As such, our coaches support your ability to transform your school into an equitable community. We provide you with learning activities, engaging texts, and opportunities for self-reflection that help you understand how systemic oppression has and continues to impact your own experiences. You will also reflect on how your identities show up in the work you are doing and your relationships. Coaching helps you to understand, challenge, and heal from systemic oppression as you build the skills and mindsets to lead for equity.

Through our consulting services, our goal is to dive into the work with you.  We know from experience how challenging it is to create change and build a new vision for school while running a school and meeting the current needs of students and families. Our consulting is about partnering with you in creating equitable learning environments. We can provide assistance through strategic planning, pinpointed resources, and clear actions to take.

Equity Audits or Reviews  

We understand that challenging racism is about changing systems and practices as well as the culture that supports those systems and practices. We know how much the details matter. Creating transformational change comes from examining school policies and practices line by line and understanding the intended and unintended outcomes of each line, each decision, on students and communities. Through our equity audits, we can provide insights and actionable strategies on various levels of your school, zooming in on one project or system, or providing a holistic review of your school’s climate and culture.
